Chiedza Mapfumo

Chiedza Mapfumo's vibrant canvases capture the essence of Zimbabwe's landscapes and cultural heritage through a distinctly contemporary lens. Born in Harare, she studied fine arts at the University of Zimbabwe before completing her MFA at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.

Her work is characterized by bold colors, textured surfaces, and a masterful use of natural pigments sourced from Zimbabwean earth. Chiedza often incorporates traditional patterns and symbols into her abstract compositions, creating a visual dialogue between past and present.

Since returning to Zimbabwe in 2018, Chiedza has become an influential voice in the contemporary African art scene. Her paintings have been acquired by major museums and her sold-out exhibitions continue to draw international attention to the rich artistic traditions of her homeland.
